An uncrewed SpaceX Dragon spacecraft will launch to the International Space Station on July 18 or onward to carry out a cargo resupply services mission.
NASA said Wednesday the company’s ninth mission under the space agency’s Commercial Resupply Services contract will bring almost 4,900 pounds of science research supplies and equipment to ISS.
It will also deliver two international docking adapters that will help Boeing‘s CST-100 Starliner and SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft dock to the station for astronaut transport as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, the space agency noted.
The Dragon will lift off on a Falcon 9 rocket from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
The previous SpaceX Dragon spacecraft that commenced the eighth commercial resupply mission has returned to Earth in May to bring back 3,700 pounds of NASA cargo including science and technology samples from ISS.
