Lockheed Martin and Israel have launched the country’s first F-35A fighter jet at a ceremony with at least 400 people in attendance such as company executives and Israel and U.S. government officials.
The conventional-takeoff-and-landing jet’s stealth technology, fused sensor information, network-enabled operations and sustainment support functions are designed to help Israel face threats such as missiles and defended airspace, Lockheed said Wednesday.
Attendees at launch ceremony included U.S. Ambassador to Israel Daniel Shapiro, Israel’s Minister of Defense Avigdor Liberman, Minister Tzachi Hanegbi of Israel’s Office of the Prime Minister, F-35 Program Executive Officer Lt. Gen. Chris Bogdan, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Congressman Craig Goldman (R-Tex) and Heidi Grant, the Deputy Under Secretary of the U.S. Air Force for International Affairs.
