Lockheed Martin has restored its mobile artillery rocket launcher to the production lines along with the system’s tactical missile for the United Arab Emirates, Defense News reported Friday.
Jen Judson writes Frank St. John, Lockheed’s tactical missiles and combat maneuver systems vice president, said at the Eurosatory land warfare conference that the company reopened the Highly-Mobile Artillery Rocket Systems and Army Tactical Missile System production lines for the U.S. Army and foreign militaries.
Lockheed seeks opportunities with international customers that plan to upgrade the HIMARS predecessor M270 and the company wants to incorporate a new fire-control system and autonomous systems into HIMARS, according to the report.
Judson reports the company has discussed a possible sale of new HIMARS to the Army.
Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, U.S. Army commander in Europe, said his organization plans to keep a fires brigade in its inventory for rotational forces over the next three years “in case of a crisis,†Defense News reports.
