Intellicheck Mobilisa has received a U.S. patent for a two-factor fingerprint biometric identity process developed to authenticate identity cards with both embedded fingerprint and live biometric information of a person.
The patent covers a biometric fingerprint technology that complies with the Federal Information Processing standard and other U.S. government identification methods, Intellicheck said Monday.
William Roof, Intellicheck CEO, said the company obtained the patent to gain a role in an estimated $25 billion fingerprint biometric marketplace and incorporate with other Intellicheck products such as Defense ID and Law ID.
“Fingerprint biometric identity authentication has widespread applications that run the gamut from defense, homeland security and police utilizations to electronic banking and payments and a variety of commercial product and retail usages,” he added.
Intellicheck added its portfolio of 25 patents include identification technology products and services that support national defense, law enforcement, retail, hospitality and financial market customers.
