William Eggers, director of public sector research at Deloitte‘s services unit, has authored a book that examines how the public sector modernizes old systems with digital technology such as cloud computing, mobile and analytics platforms.
The book, published by Deloitte University Press, also explains how digital innovators address silos, culture, procurement restrictions, workforce deficits, limited budget, competing priorities and cybersecurity threats, Deloitte said Tuesday.
“Digital transformation requires seeing old problems and processes through new eyes, and it’s as much about organizational culture as it is about technology,” said Eggers.
His book is divided into three parts that each tackles the difference between traditional government practice and the digital landscape, analyzes processes that Deloitte says need reform and weighs the potential of digital technology to help agencies achieve mission goals.
The book also contains surveys and interviews of government officials worldwide on the subject of digital transformation and digital experts.
