Cloud Constellation has launched a space-based cloud storage network that works to store and transport data without the use of the internet.
The SpaceBelt cloud infrastructure is designed to protect information from hijacking, theft, monitoring and sabotage through a private architecture that connects space-based data centers, Cloud Constellation said May 17.
The company added SpaceBelt offers its services for organizations in industries including medical, pharmaceutical, universities, archiving, transportation, utilities, energy, government, media, banking and insurance.
“The deployment of actual satellite-based secure storage has the potential to keep critical data out of the hands of earth-bound hackers while supporting global communications at half the latency of today’s terrestrial multi-hop networks,” said Mike Matchett, Taneja Group senior analyst and consultant.
