Cisco has forged a strategic partnership with Israel that seeks to expedite the deployment of digital platforms in the country over the next three years.
The company will work with Israel’s social justice ministry and regional governors to turn eastern Negev into the country’s first smart region and establish a digital hub to facilitate delivery of digital services to citizens as well as promote entrepreneurship and job creation efforts, Cisco said Monday.
The collaboration also includes the introduction of a joint-funded initiative, New Media Negev, with Israel’s Sapir College in an effort to invest in digital media and video technology platforms.
Cisco formed the partnership with the government of Israel through a memorandum of understanding after John Chambers, executive chairman at Cisco; and Oren Sagi, general manager of Cisco Israel; held a meeting with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Netanyahu said he expects the partnership to facilitate digitization efforts as well as research and development programs in Israel.
The strategic partnership with Israel comes days after Cisco signed a digitization partnership agreement with Saudi Arabia.
