CGI has received a task order to test and evaluate the Defense Department’s healthcare management system modernization initiative in an effort to help streamline healthcare delivery.
The company said Friday it will work to verify the Joint Interoperability Test Command’s requirement for operational and interoperability testing of the DoD’s electronic health records system.
The order contains one base year and two option years and was awarded through Defense Information Systems Agency‘s Test and Evaluation Mission Support Services contract vehicle.
The company will carry out the task at Fort Huachuca in Arizona and in the Pacific Northwest.
“This system will help make their medical histories available wherever they are stationed,†said Pat Dougherty, CGI senior vice president for defense programs.
DoD uses the program to oversee the procurement of off-the-shelf products meant to update the military EHR system and share medical data with approximately 9.6 million military beneficiaries and nearly 153,000 Military Health System personnel worldwide.
In July 2015, a team of Leidos, Cerner and Accenture was awarded a multi-year, multibillion dollar contract to integrate commercial technology across the MHS.
MHS announced in April that the department’s future EHR system will adopt the name of MHS Genesis upon deployment at the end of the calendar year.
