CAE has partnered with Research and Development Corp. and Hibernia Management and Development Co. Ltd. to open a facility in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador in an effort to provide training support to pilots.
The CAE-run center has a Level D helicopter simulator equipped with night vision and aims to facilitate R&D projects related to helicopter safety and related operations, CAE said Tuesday.
Nick Leontidis, group president of civil aviation training solutions at CAE, said the company will work to provide mission and flight training to search-and-rescue and offshore pilots as well as support the R&D needs of the province’s oil and gas sector through the training and R&D center.
Cougar Helicopters has started to use the center to facilitate training of its pilots for offshore and search-and-rescue operations.
CAE said five helicopter research projects are already underway at the facility.
