BAE SystemsÂ and IBC Advanced AlloysÂ have signed a joint development agreement to produce components based on the latter company’s beryllium-aluminum alloys.
IBC said Wednesday it will initially developÂ prototype componentsÂ to demonstrate the characteristics ofÂ Beralcast casted products for specific applications at BAE under the deal.
David Heinz, IBC president and CEO, said the partnership supports the company’s efforts to introduce its Beralcast technologyÂ toÂ the global aerospace market.
IBC added it offeredÂ Beralcast to anotherÂ aerospace and defense companyÂ for potential use inÂ the F-35 Joint Strike FighterÂ program.
The Beralcast suiteÂ of beryllium-aluminum alloys is designed to alsoÂ serve as an alternativeÂ forÂ aluminum, magnesium, titanium, metal matrix composites, pure beryllium or powder metallurgy beryllium-aluminum materials used inÂ aerospace, defense and precision manufacturing processes.
