Raytheon‘s ELCAN optical technologies division has won a $54 million contract to supply dual role weapon sight to Australia’s military.
Australia will use the ELCAN Specter DR 1-4x dual role weapon sight to replace the 1.5X magnified sight used on the F88 rifle as part of the Land 125 Phase 3C program, Raytheon said Tuesday.
The dual magnification system is designed to help users target objects in long range and perform rapid aiming in short range.
Cameron Perry, vice president of sales, marketing and business development at Raytheon ELCAN, said the Specter DR 1-4x sight will help soldiers observe and engage targets.
The dual role weapon sight is scheduled for deliveries in late 2016.
ELCAN Optical Technologies provides optical products designed to military and commercial standards and the Specter dual-field-of-view sight incorporates close and precision fire ranged combat features in a single package.
