The U.S. Army and Battelle have issued a request for information on technical groups that are interested to form partnerships with the Army Educational Outreach Program in order to advance initiatives in science, technology, engineering and mathematics education.
Battelle said such partnerships with AEOP will work to promote STEM programs to K-12 students, teachers and parents in underserved populations as well as encourage students to pursue careers in STEM fields.
AEOP and Battelle will issue a request for proposals on a biannual basis and plans to award grants of up to $50,000 to selected organizations.
Battelle and AEOP will announce initial grant recipients in July and then make succeeding award announcements in April and November of each year.
AEOP will evaluate partnerships with selected technical organizations based on the associations’ efforts to integrate AEOP’s portfolio of STEM initiatives and involvement in technical meetings and symposia.
Battelle collaborates with AEOP under a cooperative agreement and leads through the agreement a consortium of companies and organizations that include MetriKs Amerique, Widmeyer Communications, National Science Teachers Association, Purdue University, Academy of Applied Science, Education First, Tennessee Technological University and the Technology Student Association.
