A division of Airbus‘ defense and space segment has partnered with RapidSOS to demonstrate the use of a smartphone application to deliver emergency information to public safety answering points.
Airbus DS Communications will show how its VESTA 9-1-1 call processing system can work to display multimedia data from RapidSOS’ Haven app during the National Emergency Number Association’s conference in Indiana from June 11 to 16, Airbus said Thursday.
“We know that how public safety deals with data is on the minds of many PSAPs,” said Jeroen de Witte, chief technology officer of Airbus DS Communications.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to show the NENA participants how the integrated data application we have built will ultimately help PSAPs save more lives,” added RapidSOS CEOÂ Michael Martin.
The Haven app is designed to use sensors on modern smartphones to collect and transmit device location as well as medical and demographic information and emergency contacts.
RapidSOS created the app to also help PSAPs live video streams from an emergency scene, photos that are sent from the device and internet protocol-based text messages, according to Airbus.
