The State Department has approved the sale of Javelin guided missiles, equipment and support services worth $20 million to Qatar under foreign military sales agreement with the U.S. government.
Qatar ordered 50 Javelins and 10 associated command launch units with an integrated day/thermal sight and container, 10 missile simulation rounds, one enhanced basic skills trainer, 12 non-rechargeable batteries, six rechargeable batteries, storage and chargers and 10 battery coolant units, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Thursday.
Lockheed Martin will serve as the primary contractor for the sale, according to DSCA.
The Qatari government plans to implement Javelin missiles to help guard its homeland as well as its critical oil and natural gas infrastructure against threats.
