The Department of Transportation in Seattle, Washington, has selected Siemens to provide a platform that works to manage traffic and reduce congestion through integration with traffic control centers, parking guidance systems and other third-party platforms.
Seattle DOT will install Siemens’ Concert software to generate intelligence data in order to detect and facilitate response to traffic-related incidents in the city as well as manage traffic flow, Siemens said Tuesday.
The company’s Concert platform will work to merge data from Siemens-built Tactics traffic control tool, Washington DOT’s freeway system and Seattle’s platform designed to manage message signs in order to provide traffic insights to Seattle DOT.
Siemens will also work with transportation platforms provider Western Systems to implement Concert as well as provide on-site training and other software support services to traffic operators.
Siemens will also designate Seattle as a center of excellence for traffic platforms as part of the partnership.
