Rockwell Collins has concluded the Common Range Integrated Instrumentation System‘s production readiness review in collaboration with the CRIIS System Program Office and the Test Resource Management Center.
The company said Wednesday the Defense Department requires the PRR before it allows the system to move to the production phase.
Rockwell Collins’ CRIIS is designed to replace the Advanced Range Data System and will be initially deployed at seven military test ranges across the U.S.
These facilities for pilot deployment are Eglin Air Force Base, Nellis AFB, Edwards AFB, Naval Air Station Patuxent River, NAS Point Mugu, Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake and White Sands Missile Range.
The CRIIS platform works to support fifth-generation aircraft, perform data exchange functions and meet DoD requirements for additional test data as well as time, space, position information.
Rockwell Collins’ production planning, manufacturing readiness and quality management system were assessed under the PRR process.
The company, which serves as the prime contractor and system integrator on the CRIIS program, will perform production work in Texas and Iowa once it receives approval from DoD to begin production lot 1 for CRIIS.
