Raytheon has created an unmanned aircraft systems directorate under its advanced missile systems product line in Arizona in efforts to consolidate the elements of small UAS production including airframe, payload integration and command-and-control technology.
The company said Tuesday it will also increase delivery of its Coyote and Silver Fox UAS platforms to address a growth in small UAS demand.
Thomas Bussing, Raytheon vice president of advanced missile systems, said the UAS directorate aims to form a team of professionals in aerodynamic design, propulsion systems, ground stations and multiple mission payloads.
Coyote is designed to serve as an expendable UAS for ISR missions while the host aircraft stays in safe airspace.
Silver Fox works to assist mobile ISR operations and provide live intelligence.
