BAE Systems has awarded Pennine Telecom a contract of an undisclosed value to install a Motorola-built trunked radio system at the British defense contractor’s submarine production facility in Barrow-in-Furness, England.
Pennine said Wednesday the Mototrbo Capacity Max system will work to facilitate digital two-way communications across BAE’s submarine manufacturing site.
Pennine will also maintain the radio system for BAE over a three-year period.
Motorola built its platform with GPS tracking, active lone-worker monitoring, over-the-air subscriber reprogramming, job ticketing and radio frequency coverage monitoring and encryption functions.
Capacity Max is designed to support up to 15 facilities with as many as 3,000 users each.
