NEC Corporation of America and Unisys have teamed up to deliver facial comparison technology for the Customs and Border Protection agency to deploy at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City.
The group will look to update the Air Entry process through an identity verification system that will utilize the team’s new strategy along with Unisys’ integrated NeoFace Match facial recognition software, NEC said Thursday.
Raffie Beroukhim, vice president of NEC’s biometrics solutions division, said that the company looks to aid Unisys’ NeoFace software’s integration in security checkpoints of high-traffic areas to aid the on-boarding process and both address security levels and wait time challenges.
CBP runs several initiatives for its push to comply with a congressional mandate that calls for the agency to biometrically record the entries and departures of foreign visitors in an effort to verify people who arrive in the U.S. and meet federal border security requirements.
