The Detroit police department has employed the help of Motorola Solutions‘ video streaming and data analytics platform to support DPD’s efforts to reduce crime in high-traffic establishments through Project Green Light.
Motorola said Monday its CommandCentral Aware application is designed to aggregate and integrate video from surveillance systems and provide multiple feeds on a single screen for crime center analysts.
Detroit’s Project Green Light aims to stream live surveillance from establishments with high crime occurrence — such as fast food restaurants, liquor stores and gas stations — to DPD’s Real-Time Crime Center to aid suspect identification and arrests, Motorola noted.
“The ability to stream live video to Detroit’s Real-Time Crime Center allows analysts to quickly send critical information such as a photo of a suspect or an image of a vehicle to officers in the field to help capture suspects faster and make the community safe,” said John Zidar, corporate vice president of Motorola Solutions’ business in the Central region.
The company added its CommandCentral platform is part of the Intelligence-Led Public Safety application suite that is designed to support agencies’ use of data from sources such as 9-1-1 calls, social media feeds and national databases.
