The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association International has selected Mitre Corp. Vice Chairman Donald Kerr as a recipient of the 2016 Charlie Allen Award for Distinguished Intelligence Service.

AFCEA said Wednesday the award recognizes senior-level intelligence leaders whose contributions have supported the intelligence community.

Kerr’s career includes roles as principal deputy national intelligence director, director of the National Reconnaissance Office and assistant to the secretary of the U.S. Air Force for intelligence space technology.

He also served as deputy director for science and technology at the CIA, assistant director for the laboratory division at the FBI, executive vice president and director at Information Systems Laboratories, corporate EVP and director at Science Applications International Corp., and president and director of EG&G.

Kerr received the Charlie Allen Award at the AFCEA Spring Intelligence Symposium in April, the organization noted.

Charlie Allen is an intelligence professional who held a 50-year career in government and supported counterterrorism, homeland security, warning intelligence and information sharing programs.
