Melissa Chapman, a former chief information officer and deputy assistant secretary from the Department of Health and Human Services, has joined Springfield, Virginia-based information technology services company Information Innovators Inc. as new vice president of the business development and capture unit.
Chapman joined the company in May and has since led its HHS market growth strategy through subject matter and technical guidance as well as her experience in management and technology on both the public and private sectors, Triple-i said Wednesday.
She has also held the CIO role at the Food and Drug Administration, where she worked for 11 years in that role and others until 2002 when she joined HHS and subsequently served as the department’s CIO for one year..
Chapman entered the private sector in 2003 and has since held leadership roles at Riverhead Group, Social and Scientific Systems, Agilex, General Dynamics, Apptis and Booz Allen Hamilton.
Gina Wolery, Triple-i solutions and growth executive vice president, said the company appointed Chapman as part of a strategy to diversify its health IT practice.
Chapman also helped implement technical strategies in the health arena for agencies such as the Defense Department and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
