CompTIA Reports 25% Rise in Public Sector Council Membership; Peter Kaminskas Comments

Information technology trade group CompTIA has recorded a 25 percent increase in membership across its public sector councils between the first quarters of 2015 and 2016.

The rise in membership at CompTIA’s Space Enterprise Council, State and Local Government and Education Council and Human Services Information Technology Advisory Group comes a year after the nonprofit association launched a corporate rebrand effort, CompTIA said Monday.

CompTIA’s corporate rebrand initiative covered the integration of TechAmerica’s public sector membership with the former’s member base.

Peter Kaminskas, vice president of member relations at CompTIA, said the trade group’s three councils work to promote partnerships between the public sector and the IT industry through “peer-to-peer dialogue facilitated by a governance process that advances the IT industry.”

CompTIA said the SLED Council has formed two committees in Texas and California that work to help state and local government agencies implement regulations that seek to facilitate IT procurement.

HSITAG works to change the way government agencies deliver human services programs through promotion of partnerships and communications between IT companies and state and federal agencies, while SEC represents civil, commercial and national security sectors of the space industry.
