A division of Applied Research Associates has awarded RE2 Robotics a potential three-year, $3.3 million subcontract to develop a mobile robotic arm for the U.S. Air Force in support of the Rapid Airfield Damage Repair program.
RE2 Robotics said Tuesday it will collaborate with ARA and the service branch to determine dexterity, reach, weight, lift and other requirements for the mobile manipulator platform through the contract.
“The primary goal of the RADR program is to keep humans out of harm’s way by rapidly and remotely assessing, mitigating, and repairing airfield damage with mobile ground robotic systems,†said Jorgen Pedersen, president and CEO of RE2 Robotics.
RE2 will work to demonstrate robotic platforms for the RADR program using its ForeRunner ground robotic systems and DM4-A2 mobile manipulator platform.
