Aerojet Rocketdyne has become the first recipient of the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality TECHe Award for its solar farm at the Highland Industrial Business Park in East Camden.
The TECHe award was- presented by Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and ADEQ Director Becky Keogh to recognize the company’s efforts to develop environmentally-friendly technology, the company said Monday.
Aerojet Rocketdyne noted its solar field has 151,000 locally-produced solar panels that work to generate more than 30 million kilowatt hours of electricity yearly which is equivalent to the electricity consumed by 2,400 single-family homes.
The inaugural award ceremony was held at the State Capitol on Earth Day and was followed by the issuance of an official Earth Day Arkansas Senate Citation to recognize the solar farm, the company said.
