technology, cyber, cloud, computerSalesforce has introduced a technology platform that seeks to help public-sector organizations build applications intended to connect agencies with their employees, partners, suppliers and customers.

Government Cloud Lightning has been developed as part of the company’s multitenant public cloud infrastructure and is designed for organizations at all levels of government as well as federally funded research-and-development centers and contractors, Salesforce said Thursday.

Vivek Kundra, an executive vice president of Salesforce, said the company rolled out the platform as part of efforts to help customer agencies transform digitally and communicate with citizens.

The platform comprises a Lightning App Builder tool for the development of desktop and mobile apps and Lightning Components that are meant to serve as building blocks for agencies to customize apps.

The Lightning platform is the latest addition to Salesforce’s Government Cloud portfolio, which is covered by a moderate authority-to-operate certification the company currently holds under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program.
