The State Department has approved a request by France to purchase Lockheed Martin-built unitary rocket pods and other related resources from the U.S. government under a $90 million foreign military sales agreement between both countries.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification to notify Congress of France’s request to buy Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System unitary rocket pods, DSCA said Tuesday.
France also requested for GMLRS quality assurance teams, GMLRS publications, live fire data, software updates and technical assistance in an effort to bolster the country’s army architecture and self-defense posture.
DSCA added that the sale intends to aid France’s national security and meet political stability and economic progress goals for both countries.
