The National Archives and Records Administration agency has awarded a potential five-year, $17.3 million contract to Project Performance Company for operations and maintenance work on two NARA systems built to manage large amounts of data.
PPC said Wednesday it will also support the agency’s efforts to develop, modernize and update its Description and Authority Service and National Archives Catalog systems that work to record data in machine-readable forms.
DAS works to classify and catalog NARA records, while NAC is designed to facilitate public access to the records through the agency’s website.
PPC CEOÂ Paul Strasser noted the company built the agency’s DAS system and helped to deploy it into a cloud computing environment.
Strasser added the agency and company estimate both systems to grow by petabytes annually as NARA continues its efforts to manage and provide access to government records.
PPC said its services will also encompass areas such as IT planning and infrastructure, scorecard operations, network support, software license services, system monitoring, software maintenance, configuration and change management, data quality management and tests.
