Cloud securityMicrosoft, Amazon Web Services and CSRA are in the process of securing high baseline certifications for their cloud platforms under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, Federal Times reported March 21.

Aaron Boyd writes the cloud service providers are scheduled to receive their authorizations in April following their involvement in a pilot program that seeks to assess how CSPs can store and process federal agencies’ sensitive data in the cloud.

Matt Rathbun, cloud security director for Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform, said the company is working to obtain FedRAMP’s provisional authority-to-operate status for its Azure Government platform, according to the report.

CSRA and AWS both fielded approximately 100 security controls to process high-impact workloads in the cloud as part of their involvement in the pilot program that kicked off in the summer of 2015, according to the report.
