An Iron Mountain records storage and shredding facility in Illinois has received approval from the National Archives and Records Administration for compliance with federal records storage regulations.
The company said Wednesday the Hanover Park facility is its eighth NARA-compliant storage and shredding services operations branch, which brings Iron Mountain’s total compliant storage space to 5.2 million cubic feet.
“As government entities work to meet the objectives laid out by space-reduction mandates including the Reduce the Footprint policy, it is vital agencies have options beyond the use of current onsite agency space that is appropriate for other mission uses,” said Michael Lewis, Iron Mountain vice president and general manager of its government services business unit.
Lewis added Iron Mountain plans to continue expansion of its storage portfolio in efforts to support the needs of government clients.
Iron Mountain noted it is currently supporting the information management requirements of 100 federal agencies.
