CAECAE has been awarded a contract from Australia’s defense ministry to develop a C-130J fuselage cargo compartment trainer for that country’s air force.

The company said Wednesday CAE Australia will deliver the fuselage trainer to RAAF Base Richmond in 2018 to help support training of C-130J loadmaster aircrews in loading and unloading C-130J Hercules aircraft cargo.

The Australian air force award is one contract in a set of awards CAE secured with a total value of approximately $133 million, GovCon Wire reported Wednesday.

CAE said it will design and develop the C-130J FuT based on the simulation software of the same product it has delivered to the Royal Canadian Air Force.

The company will lead a team of subcontractors such as Lockheed Martin and Airbus, which will support hardware modifications for an old C-130H fuselage that will serve as the physical platform for the new fuselage trainer.

CAE provided the C-130J Full-Flight and Mission Simulator to RAAF Base Richmond among other training programs it has supported for the Australian air force.
