The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality has selected Aerojet Rocketdyne’s Solar Farm project as one of the finalists for the TECHe Award that seeks to recognize novel platforms that work to protect the environment and natural resources.
Aerojet Rocketdyne said Thursday ADEQ will hold the awarding ceremony Friday to mark Earth Day and to coincide with its 11th annual Arkansas Environmental Stewardship Awards ceremony.
The company’s solar farm in East Camden, Arkansas, has at least 151,000 solar panels that work to supply approximately 2,400 households with more than 30 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year.
Aerojet Rocketdyne collaborated with Silicon Ranch, Highland Industrial Park, SAUTech, Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corp. and Ouachita Electric Cooperative Corp. to build the solar farm.
Tennessee-based solar provider Silicon Ranch owns the solar farm.
