VerizonLogo1 EbizVerizon’s enterprise solutions business has won a spot on a potential 10-year, $150 million contract to provide network and communication platforms and related services to Virginia.

The multiple-award contract awarded by the Virginia Information Technologies Agency has a five-year base period and five option years, Verizon said Wednesday.

Maggie Hallbach, vice president of government and education markets at Verizon Enterprise Solutions, said the company will work to help the state of Virginia streamline operations and improve service delivery through the VITAnet contract.

Under the contract, Verizon will provide unified communications and collaboration tools, managed services, on-premises equipment, Internet Protocol-based voice services and other platforms within its networking portfolio to public sector organizations in Virginia.

The VITAnet contract covers support for the state government’s departments, local and county governments, public safety organizations, K-12 schools and universities.

Verizon said it invested an estimated $1 billion on networks and facilities in Virginia and spent approximately $459 million on business with local vendors and suppliers in 2014.
