Woolpert has received a five-year multi-million contract from the U.S. Geological Survey to assist in mapping and surveying work to help USGS fulfill its geospatial data requirements.
The agency’s National Geospatial Technical Operations Center will oversee the Geospatial Product and Services Contract 3 as part of USGS’ efforts to collect geospatial data throughout the U.S. and other territories, Woolpert said Wednesday.
“Over those 25 years, we’ve had the opportunity to collaborate on different layers of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure, from the development of nationwide imagery in the 1990s to 3D elevation and hydrography today,†said Jeff Lovin, Woolpert senior vice president and director of government solutions.
The contract will also support the 3D Elevation program to generate topographic data used by government agencies.
Woolpert landed a separate contract with the USGS in August 2015 to assess the capability of light detection and ranging sensor platforms.
