Symantec has rolled out a new data encryption portfolio that the company developed to help organizations secure their websites.
The Encryption Everywhere package is designed to allow web hosting providers to encrypt online portals for enterprise clients, Symantec said Tuesday.
“There are almost a billion websites today, yet only about 3 percent of those sites are encrypted, which means cybercriminals have been able to make a good living off of the web’s lack of security,” noted Roxane Divol, senior vice president and general manager of Symantec’s website security business.
“It’s time to secure every legitimate website and win back security on the internet for every business and consumer,” Divol added.
Symantec has found during an Internet security threat study that five in six large companies were targeted by hackers during 2014, a 40 percent increase from the previous year.
The company aims to help secure all legitimate websites by 2018 through its encryption platform.
