Recon Instruments has teamed up with Mutualink to introduce a wearable device designed to allow users to communicate with other first responders and law enforcement personnel during emergencies.
Recon Jet is an eyewear with a heads-up display that works to capture and transmit videos, GPS location and other data through a network, Intel‘s Christopher Croteau wrote in a blog entry published Tuesday.
The partnership is based on Mutualink’s joint effort with Intel on an “Internet of public safety things” program and aims to facilitate connectivity between the wearable device and Mutualink’s Interoperable Response and Preparedness Platform network through FirstNet 4G wireless and commercial networks.
Croteau, business development lead for head-worn devices at Intel’s new devices group, noted that Mutualink and Recon Instruments will hold events to seek feedback from first responders on the device as well as conduct field trials in preparation for the initial product release in the second quarter of 2016.
