Raytheon has secured a $20.6 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to support the global positioning system-based positioning, navigation and timing service.
The company’s integrated defense systems arm will support the integration of M-code signal capable GPS into GPNTS through software development, testing and requirements documentation and analysis, the Defense Department said Tuesday.
Work for the modification will occur in San Diego, California, through Aug. 31, 2017, DoD noted.
The obligated amount of $9.1 million is from research, development, test and evaluation funds.
The Navy plans to replace its WRN-6 navigation sets with GPNTS from fiscal year 2016 through 2019, Navy magazine CHIPS said in an article published May 3, 2013.
