Raytheon will design a new missile for a U.S. Army program to acquire new tactical missile system weapons for the service branch.
The company said Wednesday its Long-Range Precision Fires design will be built to integrate into the M270 MLRS and M142 HIMARS rocket launchers.
Thomas Bussing, Raytheon vice president for advanced missile systems, said the new missile system design aims to fit two missiles in a single launcher pod and to feature faster flights.
