IBM has introduced a new initiative to pick heath organizations that will $500,000 in healthcare engagement and expert assistance in an effort to help address public health challenges.
The company began to solicit health projects from civil, governmental and social sector organizations for IBM’s health and technology team to solve, IBM said Tuesday.
IBM intends for the program to help communities tackle various issues such as safe water and sanitation, stable housing, physical fitness and nutrition.
Organizations have until April 20 to submit applications to IBM.
The company will assess all submissions and announce five winners later in 2015 before IBM deploys health professionals to winning communities worldwide.
The teams will work to analyze local health problems and recommend blueprints and strategies to help address those issues.
