Lockheed Martin has landed a potential four-year, $131 million contract from the U.S. Navy to manage naval aviation tires with partner company Michelin North America.
The performance-based logistics contract has a base value of $52 million and base period of three years as well as options for two six-month extensions and for F-35 tires support, Lockheed said Wednesday.
Laura Frank, vice president of integrated test and logistics at Lockheed’s mission systems and training unit, said the company aims to decrease the amount of warehouse inventory through the supply chain management system.
The company noted the program will support Australia, Bahrain, Brazil, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey and the U.K. as part of the foreign military sales program.
A previous contract was awarded to Michelin in 2001 with support from Lockheed and facilitated the delivery of more than 440,000 tires during the 14-year period, Lockheed added.
