The Joint Interoperability Test Command has tested a unified communications system that comprises Polycom‘s suite of business media phones and a Genband application server.
The companies now await a final certification from JITC to integrate their Local Session Controller technology into the Defense Department‘s communications network, Genband said Monday.
“Public sector organizations are in need of a standards-based replacement for legacy phone systems and dated communications infrastructure,” noted Sean Berg, vice president for Polycom’s public sector business.
Polycomm’s VVX phones are designed for mission-critical voice and video communications while Genband-built application server works to help customers create and secure private cloud environments.
The companies aim to help DoD manage communications on premises or in the cloud through the unified session initiation protocol-based platform.
