U.S. Central Command has awarded anÂ IntelsatÂ subsidiary a contract to deliver Ku-band satellite services to support operations acrossÂ Centcom’sÂ areas of responsibility inÂ NorthÂ Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia.
Intelsat GeneralÂ will work to provide Centcom up to 288Â megahertz of Ku-band connectivity viaÂ the subsidiary’sÂ satellite communications technology, the companyÂ said Monday.
Skot Butler, Intelsat General vice president of satellite networks and space services, said the subsidiary aims to supportÂ communications in remote areas within the CENTCOM AOR.
Services under the one-year contract — whichÂ has renewal option periods coveringÂ four years and six monthsÂ — commencedÂ in February, Intelsat General added.
U.S. Air Forces Central CommandÂ awarded a similar contract to Intelsat General in SeptemberÂ for up to 144 megahertz of Ku-band connectivity.
