Joseph Teixeira, Inmarsat aviation safety and cybersecurity vice president, has received the James L. Oberstar Sentinel of Safety Award from the National Air Traffic Controllers Association for his leadership in the field of aviation safety.
Inmarsat said Thursday the award is given annually to recognize a non-NATCA member who has significantly contributed to aviation safety efforts.
NATCA presented the award to Teixeira during the organization’s Communicating for Safety conference.
Teixeira has helped support safety management system when he worked at the Federal Aviation Administration and has led initiatives that Inmarsat said has won awards for the Transportation Department.
