The House of Representatives has started its search for industry sources to assist the legislative branch’s web systems group in its plan to transition the chamber’s public-facing website to a cloud computing infrastructure from the current on-premise environment.
According to a March 8 request for information, the House’s information systems organization is considering potential directions it could take in a cloud migration with respect to infrastructure-as-a-service, platform-as-a-server and managed service providers that could work with the branch’s chief administrative officer.
The House’s web systems group develops web sites and applications for offices within the chamber and maintains nearly 350 on-premise sites in a Drupal 7 CMS platform.
Vendors could use the Drupal platform or provide another virtualized environment on the House infrastructure, the RFI says.
The House will accept submissions for the request until March 29.
