Mike Tanner, president and CEO of Hitachi Data Systems Federal Corp., has said large volumes of data driven by the adoption of Internet-of-Things-based devices can bring societal changes and improve people’s lives when used correctly, Fedscoop reported Thursday.
Billy Mitchell writes Tanner made the remarks at the Hitachi Data Systems Social Innovation Summit in Washington Thursday.
“Those devices… they’re all generating data, and it’s a question of how do we take that data and really put it to use?,†Tanner said at the event.
Information technology executives from federal agencies such as the Defense Information Systems Agency, Department of Homeland Security and the National Archives and Records Administration have called for the adoption of analytics tools to manage big data workloads, Mitchell reports.
