General Dynamics‘ U.K. subsidiary has opened a new facility in South Wales to carry out assembly, integration and testing functions for the Armored Fighting Vehicle program in Britain.
The facility was declared open and will undergo refurbishment through 2016 and is projected to be fully operational by 2017, General Dynamics said Monday.
General Dynamics Land Systems U.K. said it will use the facility to support delivery of Ajax vehicles to the British Army, the report said.
“I’d like to thank the UK Government, Welsh Government, local council and community for its support as we establish a facility that we can all be proud of,” said Kevin Connell, vice president of General Dynamics Land Systems U.K.
GDLS U.K. landed a $605 million contract from the British Army in July 2015 to extend in-service support of the Ajax special vehicle platform through to 2024.
