The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency will conduct Information Days from March 29 to 30 and a Proposers Day on April 22 to discuss the Squad X Core Technologies program with potential contractors.
DARPA said Tuesday the SXCT initiative seeks to develop portable, integrated platforms designed to provide situational awareness functions for dismounted troops.
The systems will also work to help dismounted squads control their mission environments across the physical, cyber and electromagnetic domains.
“Through Squad X, we want to vastly improve dismounted squad effectiveness in all domains by integrating new and existing technologies into systems that squads can bring with them,†said Maj. Christopher Orlowski, a program manager at DARPA.
The program also aims to explore capabilities for Marines and soldiers through research in the areas of squad sensing, precision engagement, squad autonomy and non-kinetic engagement.
The agency will hold the events at its conference center in Arlington, Virginia.
Registration for the events is open until March 24.
DARPA awarded nine firms Phase I contracts through the SXCT program in December 2015.
