Ultra Electronics 3eTI released a statement in response to a letter U.S. Navy leaders sent to Defense Sec. Ashton Carter regarding the addition of industrial control systems security on the monthly DoD cyber scorecard, Ultra Electronics said Wednesday.
DoD assesses agencies’ cybersecurity improvement efforts through the scorecard framework.
Benga Erinle, president of Ultra Electronics, said in the statement that the company supports the Navy leaders’ recognition of the emerging threats to ICS networks that can potentially affect operations.
“We at 3eTI believe [Carter’s]Â affirmative to the admirals’ request will spark the wide-scale and fast-track action needed to correct the gaping vulnerabilities associated with America’s control and machine-to-machine systems,” he said.
Navy Admirals William Gortney and Harry Harris sent the letter on Feb. 11 to ask the Carter to include ICS in the scorecard in an effort to improve accountability.
