Raytheon secured a $31.8 million contract from the U.S. Army to provide 464 Excalibur Ib missiles.
The GPS-guided Excalibur Ib works to engage long-range targets with enhanced precision and has been in full-rate production since 2014, the company said Tuesday.
Duane Gooden, Raytheon vice president for land warfare systems, said the company has pursued internal development efforts to deliver Excalibur to the maritime sector.
Raytheon also seeks to meet the U.S. Navy‘s standards through the development of Excalibur N5, a version that the company said features 70 percent of Excalibur Ib’s components and 99 percent of Ib’s software.
Excalibur N5 underwent tests in 2015 at the Yuma Proving Grounds, the company added.
