Motorola Solutions has been selected to update Michigan’s public safety communications system and expand the use of the platform to Grand Traverse County and other agencies in the state.
The company will work to perform updates to Astro 25 digital radio system, alarm system, radio towers and related equipment in an effort to improve interoperability among the state’s public safety personnel, Motorola Solutions said Monday.
“This next phase of expanding the MPSCS will help ensure that first responders across the state will have the sustainable communication tools they need to do their jobs while keeping the residents of Michigan safe,†said Brad Stoddard, director and statewide interoperability coordinator for MPSCS.
The MPSCS radio network consists of approximately 74,500 radios and 245 radio towers and works to help emergency personnel communicate with public safety officials from other states such as Ohio, Indiana and Wisconsin.
Grand Traverse County is scheduled to adopt MPSCSÂ by spring of this year.
